Like all of their vineyards, it's farmed organically and biodynamically, and they picked the grapes on September 23 and fermented them partly destemmed in oak vats with indigenous yeasts and manual punching down for 47 days. The wine matured in barrel for nine to 10 months. Despite Moncerbal being very showy and floral and almost stealing the show, the depth, complexity and nuance of this 2019 La Faraona is amazing. The palate is a little stiff at this early stage; Ricardo Perez Palacios made the comparison with the 2010 and 2011 vintages that needed some time in bottle to blossom. There were 1,459 bottles, 77 magnums, 12 double magnums, eight Jeroboams and one Salmanazar produced. ジェームスサックリング：94 ポイント DESCENDIENTES DE J. It fermented with some full clusters and indigenous yeasts in oak vats for 46 days and matured in oak barrels and foudres for 11 months. It's one of the lower-alcohol wines (together with the Corullon) at 13.5% alcohol. This is super aromatic and floral, with notes of violets and also white flowers and even a citrus touch. This is the showier wine of the 2019s?textured, long and gentle, with a great finish. It has changing aromas and flavors, mixing flowers, herbs, berries, earth and even a lactic touch sometimes. It should develop further complexity in bottle. This is a great vintage for Moncerbal, keeping the freshness and poise of the 2018 in a warmer year. They use less and less new oak barrels, contrary to what they thought they'd need with the new winery. 3,488 bottles, 101 magnums and some larger formats were produced in 2019. ジェームスサックリング：94 ポイント DESCENDIENTES DE J. It comes from a vintage when the vines delivered very healthy grapes and a larger crop. They had to wait to harvest the grapes because the higher yield meant the plants had problems to ripen all the fruit. The palate is elegant and fresh, with clean flavors and precision. 2,300 bottles produced. Raúl Pérez has bought some of the plots he used to vinify for the La Vizcaína range. In 2022, he used less full clusters for the fermentation of the reds. The single-vineyard bottlings of the Ultreia range are gradually being moved to oak foudres, and he's leaving the barriques. The wines from 2022 are ripe and clean, and they didn't have the flor that they had in some previous years. Published: Jun 21, 2024

So delicious now, but one for the future, too. ワインアドヴォケイト：96 ポイント Rating 96 Release Price $628 Drink Date 2021 - 2033 Reviewed by Luis Gutierrez Issue Date 1st Jul 2021 Source Issue 255 End of June 2021, The Wine Advocate The Unico released in 2021, 10 years after the harvest, is the 2011 Unico, selected from 40 of their 210 hectares of vineyards. 2011 is a concentrated and ripe vintage, and they selected 95% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon that were cooled in a cold room for 24 hours before being sorted; the bunches and grapes macerated at 9 to 10 degrees Celsius for three to four days, and then it was inoculated with a pied de cuve to ferment with pumping overs. Malolactic was in stainless steel, and the wine was put through a long aging, 10 years between oak and bottle, using new and used French and American oak barrels and 20,000-liter oak vats. For Vega Sicilia, 2011 was a fresher year than 2010, not the common idea about those vintages in Ribera del Duero. The wine has a developed nose with some notes of ripe black fruit, meat and underbrush, somewhat herbal and perfumed. There is something about the nose of the Unicos that I cannot quite describe but is quite distinct, and it's in this vintage and also in the Reserva Especial. 88,288 bottles, 3,505 magnums, 318 double magnums, 60 Imperial and 3 Salmanazar were produced. A mix of three vintages: 2011, 2012 and 2013. Blackberries, ashtray, incense, fine spices, dark chocolate and touches of black pepper and balsamic. Almost something bloody, but the highlight is really the sheer, velvety sheet of sweet, fully melted tannins, which are ultra-polished and refined. The long finish goes on well over a minute. Zekun Shuai Senior Editor ワインアドヴォケイト：98 ポイント The Wine Advocate RP 98 Reviewed by: Luis Gutierrez Release Price: $980 Drink Date: 2025 - 2040 The NV Único Reserva Especial 2025 Release was produced with a blend of wines from 2011, 2012 and 2013, with 14% alcohol, a pH of 3.86 and five grams of acidity. It has the core of the 2012, possibly the higher percentage in the blend too, which gives the power and structure with the freshness and tension of 2013, which also provides some balsamic characteristics, and less of the 2011. It has a very harmonious and subtle nose, and the wine shows extra complexity and elegance. It has the Único nose with more nuance and subtleness, but what I liked the most was the silky texture and the elegance of the tannins, as usual combining more developed characteristics with elegance and freshness. This is another stellar release of their non-vintage classical blend, slowly going back to the style of yesteryear. A total of 18,518 bottles and 261 magnums were produced. It was bottled in May 2021. At Vega Sicilia, they are increasing their capacity in large oak vats, which are incorporated in the first year of elevage of the wines. 2020 was challenging with rain just before and during the harvest, and 2015 was a warm and ripe year. It's a blend of Tinto Fino with some Cabernet Sauvignon with 14% alcohol, a pH of 3.85 and 5.2 grams of acidity (measured in tartaric acid per liter of wine); so, it's a slightly lighter version of Reserva Especial. When in theory they used three warm, ripe and powerful vintages, the blend is not excessively powerful, but the longer elevage has polished that power and delivered a classical and proportioned wine, aromatic, spicy, with the Vega nose and a velvety palate with very fine tannins and great elegance. 18,318 bottles and 233 magnums produced. It was bottled in June 2019. Vega Sicilia has increased the capacity in oak vats-they have 40,000 liters more. They produce between 235,000 and 300,000 bottles per year depending on the vintage.

They produced it with the grapes from 40 of the 210 hectares of vineyards they have, with a total of 55 separate plots and 19 different soils. It's mostly 95% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes that are cooled down for 24 hours and then fermented in oak vats with indigenous yeasts. Malolactic fermentation was in stainless steel and the aging in 225-liter oak barrels and 20,000-liter oak vats for a long time as this was bottled in June 2018. 2012 is a concentrated year, warm and dry with some rain at the end of September that helped the end of the ripening process of healthy grapes with lots of color and ripe tannins. The wine has a ripe nose, with intoxicating notes of black fruit, fresh meat and blood, a spicy touch from the American oak and an earthy twist. It's a voluptuous and decadent vintage for Vega Sicilia, for those that favor years like 2006, a bit atypical, or 1999. The wine finished with 14.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.88 and 5.1 grams of acidity (tartaric). 88,188 bottles, 3,537 magnums, 328 double magnums, 55 imperials and five Salmanazar produced. Vega Sicilia has increased the capacity in oak vats-they have 40,000 liters more. In that context, the 2003 Unico showed surprisingly well. It's tannic, serious and austere, a little in the style of 2005. It has an incredibly intense nose, much more linear and focused than the more flamboyant 2000, with scents of dark cherry, creme de cassis and a touch of honey and melted dark chocolate. The palate is medium-bodied with a slight grainy texture on the entry, a hint of cooked meat inflecting the layers of toasty dark berry fruit. It is very harmonious and perhaps at this juncture, edgier and grittier than the millennial Unico. It is less opulent and more structured than the 2000, but is a more cerebral wine.
