It delivers a sense of intensity, clarity and momentum that is rare to find in this warm vintage. It is also a highly complex expression that shows a slow but very interesting evolution in the glass with dark fruit aromas that are fused seamlessly with spice, tarry resin and blue flower. This is a wine with big bones that moves with incredible grace and poise. I would recommend holding the bottle for at least five more years. At the conclusion of my tasting of 2011 Barolo, I concluded that the Bussia vineyard in Monforte d'Alba (with a smaller piece in the Barolo township) performed consistently better in the hot 2011 vintage than any other in the appellation. It is also one of the largest vineyards at 299 hectares, although it is divided into a half-dozen subsections that are farmed by a large number of producers. In general, Bussia occupies a higher altitude with vines planted from 210 and 460 meters above sea level. It boasts excellent exposures with mostly southern and southwestern positioning. These factors have greatly contributed to the quality of fruit in 2011. Higher elevations helped to keep the vines cooler during the hottest moments of the summer. Vines are also well established in this vineyard with extensive root systems that help guard against drought conditions. Of the various estates that farm Bussia, Poderi Aldo Conterno shows exceptional results with this set of new releases. Collectors looking to put aside a few bottles of 2011 Barolo should start here. The Ceretto 2016 Barolo Bricco Rocche has always been one of the benchmark wines in this revered portfolio. It offers a lovely bouquet that explores some of the more nuanced sides of Nebbiolo that veer into the realms of rose, ash, tar and smoke. These pretty little details frame a solid core of berry fruit, cassis and dried cherry. One of the most distinctive aspects of this wine is the mouthfeel, which manages to impart its power and length without subtracting from its profound elegance. Fruit comes from a 1.5-hectare site owned by the Ceretto family, with sandstone soils at 350 to 370 meters above sea level. This is a Barolo to remember-and save in your cellar. Roberta Ceretto and her family report that all the estate vineyards, since 2015, are farmed according to biodynamic and organic practices. This group of wines includes the second vintage Ceretto's newest addition, the Barolo Bussia, with fruit from a tiny parcel in Bussia Soprana measuring less than one hectare. Dark, rich and sensual, the Vite Talin captures all of the natural richness of the heavily virused, low-yielding clone the Sandrone family propagated in their parcels within Le Coste and Rivasi, both in Barolo. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, spice, cedar, tobacco and kirsch are all dialed up in this explosive, heady Barolo. The 2017 is just next-level wine. Superb. - By Antonio Galloni on November 2022 Sandrone was the first stop on my trip for this report. Maybe there was some sort of meaning to that. I learned of Luciano Sandrone's passing just as we are going to press. To say Sandrone was a titan of Barolo is a massive understatement. Sandrone defined an entire generation of Barolo growers. With all due respect to his contemporaries, Sandrone did several things none of them did. First, he created an estate from nothing, with no inherited land, but rather with a vineyard he and his wife Mariuccia purchased. Sandrone almost immediately found remarkable balance, crafting Barolos that were decidedly modern in style and appealed to wine lovers reared on the classics. The 1989 and especially 1990 Cannubi Boschis were among his first iconic wines. Last and maybe most importantly, Sandrone was the only grower of his generation to create a winery and was able to climb the ranks and become part of Piedmont's elite, that small group of historic, family-run estates whose wines are highly sought in the secondary market. I tasted these new releases with Sandrone's brother Luca, daughter Barbara and granddaughter Alessia, who represents the next generation. All three wines were spectacular both at the estate and in my office in New York a few weeks later. Luca Sandrone described 2019 as a year with heavy rains in the winter but no extremes during the growing season. Harvest for the Nebbiolo ran from October 9 through 18, starting with Villero and finishing with Le Coste. On that subject, 2019 is the first vintage of Le Vigne that incorporates fruit from Le Coste in the blend. The Aleste and Le Vigne were in tonneau by November, where they finished the malolactic fermentations. Total time in wood was 20-22 months. The Vite Talin follows a different protocol. It was fermented in wood and saw an extended submerge cap fermentation. It spent two years in tonneau and a year in cask. The 2017 is magical.

    100年以上変わらない『バルバレスコ』を手掛ける、伝統的なワイナリー！ 樹齢50年以上の葡萄しか使わない。ヴェッキエ・ヴィーニュは樹齢80年以上。ロアーニャでしか味わえない芯のあるワイン。アタックではなく中間からアフターを楽しんで欲しい。 「ロアーニャ」は、150年以上に亘ってバルバレスコを造り続ける、伝統的なワイナリーです。高い品質にも関わらず近年までイタリア国内でもほとんど名を知られていない造り手でしたが、2009年イタリアを代表するワインガイドのひとつ『エスプレッソ』誌において、「バルバレスコ クリケット パイエ」1999ヴィンテージが、数千本の中から2本のみという、その年最高のワイン(20点満点獲得。もう一本はあの、ジャコモ コンテルノのバローロ リゼルヴァ モンフォルティーノ)に選ばれたことで一躍有名になりました。 「バローロ ピラ ヴェッキエ・ヴィーティ」は、カスティリオーネ・ファレットに位置する。3方向を森と崖に囲まれた孤立した畑で砂質が主体（石灰質、青色粘土質、トゥーフォ）というバローロでは珍しい土壌。1989年に購入したロアーニャのモノポール。この畑のネッビオーロはマルゴッタでオリジナルのクローンを残していて、ほぼ全てが自根。4.88haで他の畑と面していないので独自のテロワールが残されている。このキュヴェは樹齢80年以上の古樹のみで造られる。 Roagna Barolo Pira Vecchie Viti ロアーニャ バローロ ピラ ヴェッキエ・ヴィーティ 生産地：イタリア ピエモンテ 原産地呼称：DOCG. BARBARESCO ぶどう品種：ネッビオーロ 100% アルコール度数：14.0% 味わい：赤ワイン 辛口 フルボディ ■2017年ヴィンテージ情報■ 「他の早熟年と全く違う２０１７」ロアーニャの2017ヴィンテージは、ネッビオーロの陽気な側面を亨楽的な楽しさを表現しています。発酵時に全房を5%-8%を使用することによって、味わいを和らげ、飲み心地の良いワインに仕上げました。2017の特徴は暑い気候と降雨量の少なさであり、早熟なヴィンテージと言えます。しかし2017は他の早熟ヴィンテージとは多くの違いが見られるんです。 【ポリフェノール】 猛暑の夏が過ぎ、8月末から9月上旬にかけて待望の降雨と気温の大幅な低下がありました。昼夜の温度差が重要な時期に理想的な気候に近づきました。この恩恵を受けたのはネッビオーロやバルベーラの中程度の成長サイクルを持つ黒葡萄のポリフェノールで、他の暑い年とは異なる値を記録しました。また、ワインの熟成に不可欠な要素、アントシアニンとタンニン量も優れています。 【成長サイクル】 2017は出芽から成熟までの期間が例年よりも早かったにもかかわらず平均185日（同じような暑い年は170日程、晩熟は200日程）で、葡萄樹は完全な成長サイクルを楽しむことができたのです。 【ワインの主成分】 アルコール含有用はかなり高いものの、平均値を逸脱していません。それは最も暑い時期に葡萄の代謝プロセスがストップしたためと考えられます。葡萄樹は35℃以上の猛暑が続くと代謝プロセスが止まるため、アルコール分は正常値を保つのです。更に、良好なPHレベルが記録されており、総酸度が低いのはリンゴ酸の量が少ないことが原因であり、葡萄が優れた熟成度を証明しています。 ワインアドヴォケイト：97 ポイント The Wine Advocate RP 97 Reviewed by: Monica Larner Release Price: $600 Drink Date: 2025 - 2050 The Roagna 2017 Barolo Pira Vecchie Viti also draws its fruit from Castiglione Falletto in a vineyard site located just below Rocche di Castiglione. The vines were planted in 1937 on this slope with southeast exposures. This wine shows a similar character with a pronounced sense of focus and linearity that draws a through line from start to finish of the wine. Light mineral tones frame a core of fragrant fruit with crushed rose and limestone. This is a production of just 2,730 bottles. Roagna prefers to hold its wines back to age longer in oak casks and cement. For this reason, the newest releases are from the 2017 vintage. These are wines that saw five years of aging. Some whole cluster fruit is used (from 5% to 8%). We also have the beautiful 2017 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione produced from a half-hectare parcel that was acquired in 2016. Aromatic and deeply pitched, the 2019 races across the palate with remarkable depth and intensity. Crushed red berry fruit, rose petal, mint and cinnamon all open in the glass, but it is the wine's silkiness and suppleness that impresses most. A kick of acids and tannins puts an exclamation point on the finish. This is a gorgeous Cerequio that takes all the finesse this site offers, and then turns up the volume. And because this is a new addition to the portfolio, the Vietti team is still learning the ropes. For example, there is a fresh minty tone that pops up from the bouquet of the 2019 Barolo Cerequio. "That minty note was a mystery to us," Luca Currado tells me. "But then we understood that its part of Cerequio." This wine shows a firm grip on the palate that does extend out to include some textural softness, but it ultimately remains quite structured. Among the grand cru sites of La Morra, Luca Currado tells me that "Cerequio is the brother and Brunate is the sister." His wife Elena Penna adds, "We've never had two sites so close to one another show such a great difference between them."

Black cherry, plum, spice, lavender, mocha, gravel and scorched earth all build as this virile, potent Barolo struts its stuff. The Brunate is another super-impressive wine in this range. To be perfectly honest, the Brunate has never been one of my favorite wines here, but the 2019 is undeniably great. Perhaps the combination of parcels Vietti has today explains the multi-dimensional vibrancy that comes through. Hints of baking chocolate or espresso bean appear on the close.

If you can get your hands on a bottle, you will be rewarded with impressive finesse and the kind of tiny detailing that can only come to Nebbiolo after a decade of oak and bottle aging. Old vines in the Mosconi cru supply the fruit for this wine, with notes of dried cherry, crushed flowers, spice, tar and licorice. This was a hot and not always easy vintage, but the Clerico crew has pulled out the very best of that vintage with robust, concentrated fruit and all its inner elegance intact. As I taste through these wines, it gives me enormous pleasure to reflect on the fact that 2017 was the last vintage touched by the hands of Domenico Clerico. He died on July 16 of that year at the age of 67 after a battle with illness. vinous：93 ポイント 93 pts Domenico Clerico 2011 Barolo Percristina Monforte D'alba, Piedmont Red wine from Italy Drinking window: 2021 - 2029 The 2011 Barolo Percristina is an attractive wine that has aged quite well over the last decade, which is a major step forward. Succulent dark cherry, plum, new leather, licorice, menthol, espresso, spice and blood orange flesh out in a supple, juicy Barolo from Clerico. In 2011, Percristina is quite a bit more laid back and less concentrated than in previous years. It is also impeccably balanced and a pure joy to taste today. Drink it over the next handful of years.
