若き後継者の登場でさらなる躍進が楽しみ 珠玉のクリマを所有する大ドメーヌ。

リシュブール、ロマネ・サン・ヴィヴァン、ヴォーヌ・ロマネ1級マルコンソール、シュショ、そしてボーモン……。きらびやかなヴォーヌ・ロマネのクリマが揃う、ドメーヌ・アラン・ユドロ・ノエラ。シャンボール・ミュジニーに生まれたアラン・ユドロが、妻のオディールとともにヴージョにドメーヌを構えたのが1964年。そのオディールがヴォーヌ・ロマネの大ドメーヌ、シャルル・ノエラの孫娘で1978年に祖父の所有畑の4分の1を受け継いだ。冒頭に連ねた珠玉のクリマは、この時、旧ドメーヌ・シャルル・ノエラからもたらされたものである。したがって、このドメーヌの多くの畑は、後にシャルル・ノエラを買収したドメーヌ・ルロワの区画と隣接している。

現在、ワイン造りを行っているのが、ドメーヌの創始者、アラン・ユドロ氏の孫、シャルル・ヴァン・カネット氏。ボーヌの醸造学校で1年間学び、2007年からドメーヌ・ジャン・ルイ・トラぺで研修を受け、2008年にドメーヌに参画しました。溢れる驚くほど滋味深いシャルル氏のワインは、飲み手の心を引きつけて離しません。まだ10年足らずのキャリアながら、高い評価を得る生産者です。

「ヴォーヌ・ロマネ 1er レ・ボー・モン」は、南側にリシュブール、北側にエシェゾーという偉大なグラン・クリュにはさまれた秀逸な一級畑。標高約270～300mに位置し、東南東に面した日当たりの良いテロワールです。ユドロ・ノエラのボーモンは、平均樹齢60年、ボーモンの特徴であるミネラル感と力強さを兼ね備えたワインです。

Revisited in bottle, the 2019 Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Beaumonts is performing brilliantly, bursting from the glass with aromas of wild berries, rose petals, blood orange and exotic spices, framed by a deft application of classy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and concentrated, with lively acids, melting tannins and a long, penetrating finish, it's a sensual and seamless wine that will offer a broad drinking window.

Somewhat lower in alcohol than his 2019 portfolio but just as striking and sensual in style, Charles Van Canneyt has produced a brilliant range of wines in the 2020 vintage-including what may well be his best Richebourg (to mention only one cuvee out of several by name) to date. Harvest began on August 28th and only lasted a few days, delivering wines of striking concentration and energy. Everything reviewed here comes warmly recommended and will be well worth seeking out.

The 2019 Vosne-Romanee Les Beaumonts 1er Cru is well defined on the nose, a mixture of red and black fruit displaying fine mineralite and tension. The palate races out of the blocks with fine structure and delineation, and again, superb mineralite; palpable tension propels it through to the finish.
