常に安定した高いクオリティ「カロン・セギュール」

メドック地区でのブドウ栽培発祥の地とも言われ、メドック地区のワインは全てここから始まったと言っても過言ではない「サン・テステフ村」。 この村で生み出されている「カロン・セギュール」は、メドック地区の格付けシャトーの中でも最北端、ボルドーのジロンド川河口に位置し、およそ48haの粘土質の多い土壌で、ボディーのしっかりした濃いルビー色のワインを造り出しています。

当時の所有者、「セギュール候爵」こそ、この「カロン・セギュール」という名の元になっている人物です。 18世紀、かのラフィットやラトゥールをはじめ、いくつもの有名なブドウ園を所有していたセギュール候爵ですが、「ラフィット、そしてラトゥールでもワインを造ってきたが、私の心はここ、カロンにある」と述べ、「カロン・セギュール」にその情熱を傾けました。

有名な「ハートラベル」には、そんなセギュール候爵の並々ならぬ熱い想いが込められているのです。

■2019年ヴィンテージ情報■
2019年はまさしく幸運の星のもとに生まれたヴィンテージです。偉大なる年と評される2018年同様、夏には暑く乾いた天候に恵まれました。いずれの品種に関しても水分ストレスが効果的にかかり、理想的な熟度の果実に成熟しています。ぶどうの衛生状態も申し分なく、メルローの収穫は9月24日から28日にかけて、カベルネ・ソーヴィニヨンとカベルネ・フラン、プティ・ヴェルドの収穫は9月30日から10月9日の期間に実施しています。
フローラルでフルーティー、またしても多彩なアロマパレットが印象的なヴィンテージの誕生です。なめらかで上品で、優美さを感じさせるタンニンとともに、みずみずしい風味が広がります。2016年や2018年と肩を並べる秀逸ヴィンテージです。

The 2019 Calon Segur is a wine of soaring vertical intensity and pure power. That's the good news. The not so good news is that it won't be ready to drink any time soon. Exotic spice, pencil shavings, creme de cassis, mocha and licorice are some of the nuances that develop in the glass, but those descriptions can't even begin to capture the sheer beauty of what is in the glass. This estate continues its stately quality progress with a vintage that brings out great richness as well as a serious, structured side. The blueberry flavors are shot through with tannins that contrasts with the wine's succulent fruitiness. As the wine matures, that fruit will shape the wine's future as much as the tannins. This is for the long term.

Displaying a very deep purple-black color, the 2019 Calon-Segur strides confidently out of the glass with classic notes of warm cassis, blackberry preserves, pencil shavings and clove oil plus nuances of lilacs, cinnamon stick, chocolate box and menthol. The medium to full-bodied palate is packed with tightly wound, muscular black fruits and loads of bright floral accents, framed by firm, fine-grained tannins and bold freshness, finishing long and graceful.
