スクリーミング・イーグルのパートナーが所有していたベントロック・ヴィンヤードのシャルドネで造る1本!

マヤ、スクリーミング・イーグルなど、数々の伝説的ワインを生み出したハイジ・バレットが、ワインと食の業界で25年以上のキャリアを誇るジョン・シュワルツと共に立ち上げたワイナリーがアミューズ・ブーシュである。ハイジが絶大な信頼を置く、数々のカルトワインを手掛けるジム・バーバーが栽培責任者であり、この最強トリオが手掛ける作品は、ハイジ・バレットのワインを語る上で必ず飲むべき代表作である。

そんなアミューズ・ブ―シュの別プロジェクト「Grand Joueurs Vigneorons」として、ジョン・シュワルツと共同ワインメーカーのケント・ジャーマンによって生み出されたのが「私の道」を意味する、モン・トラジェです。

「モン・トラジェ シャルドネ」 は、スクリーミング・イーグルのパートナーが所有していたベントロック・ヴィンヤード(クローン76と95)のブドウを使用。海からの涼しい影響と石灰を含んだ堆積土が理想的なシャルドネを生み出す。

マンゴーやメロンといった甘やかなトロピカルフルーツのニュアンスに加えて、ミネラル感と質量が多いフレッシュな酸が広がる。フルボディでありながら、エレガントでフレッシュさも兼ね備えている。

Made in a combination of concrete eggs and French oak, the 2022 Mon Trajet Chardonnay Bentrock Vineyard boasts unvarnished fruit aromas of apple, pear and mixed citrus. In the mouth, the wine is medium to full-bodied, plump and rounded, then eases into pineapple and honey notes on the lingering finish.

The Grands Joueurs Vignerons wines are made by Kent Jarman. His business partner in the enterprise is John Schwartz. I tasted the wines with Schwartz at his secluded roost high on Atlas Peak Road.
