    ブルゴーニュ的、しなやかでピュアなシャトーヌフ・デュ・パプを産み出すパーカー5つ星生産者! 1956年に現オーナーのプイザン家が取得し、狩猟用の山だったクロ・デュ・カイユの土地の土壌に目を付け、森を開墾し本格的なぶどう栽培・ワイン造りを開始。1990年代半ばまで収穫の大部分はギガルなど大手ネゴシアンへ桶売りしていたが1995年に大きな転機が訪れる。創業者の孫娘、シルヴィ・プイザンがサンセールの名高いドメーヌ・ヴァシュロンにてワイン造りを行っていた夫、ジャン・ドニ・ヴァシュロンとドメーヌを継ぐ事を決心しサンセールからローヌへ移住。以来細やかな区画毎の栽培醸造管理の徹底、商品レンジの一新や有機栽培の推進など品質向上の為の様々な革新を行いながら元詰めを徐々に増やして僅か数年でシャトーヌフ・デュ・パプのトップ生産者と賞される。 ブルゴーニュワインをこよなく愛したジャン・ドニの手腕とそれを可能にする砂質土壌主体の卓越したテロワールと古木グルナッシュの見事な融合により、クロ・デュ・カイユのワインは洗練されたエレガンスとフィネスで世に広く知られるようになる。その精神は2002年にジャン・ドニが不慮の事故死を遂げた後もシルヴィと残された子供達、そして現在の醸造責任者ブルーノ・ガスパールに受け継がれており、フラッグシップの『シャトーヌフ・デュ・パプ ラ・レゼルヴ』がパーカーポイント100点を獲得し、その後も3回獲得するなど、スターへの階段を駆け上がりました。 「ル・カイユ」と他区画から造られるACコート・デュ・ローヌが計45haと石垣の外周辺に所有するシャトーヌフ・デュ・パプを計9ha所有し、年間約25万本を生産。1950年代に植樹されたぶどう樹が多く残り、平均樹齢は60年を超す。2010年よりビオロジック認証取得、一部区画ではビオディナミを実践している。野生酵母による発酵など極力ナチュラルな造りが信条。 「シャトーヌフ・デュ・パプ ラ・レゼルヴ」は、最良な年しかリリースされない限定品トップ・キュヴェ。区画名「La Guigasse」と「Pignan」で砂質とサフルの土壌。88%が600Lのデュミ・ミュイ(唯一新樽を30%使用)、残りは500Lのアンフォラにて14ヵ月の熟成。樹齢70年。パーカーポイント100点を4回獲得したことのある、ル・クロ・デュ・カイユにおける最上位に位置するワインです。アロマが繊細に、そして鮮烈に香ります。素晴らしくなめらかなテクスチャーで、非常に複雑でエレガントなワインです。 ■テイスティングノート■ 輝きのある深みのあるカルディナーレの赤は、チェリーのハイライトを持つ。香りは非常に複雑で、赤い果実のジャムのアロマにプロヴァンスの香り(タイム、ローズマリー)、ザンと新鮮なココアのノートが混じり合う。味わいはエレガントでピュア、驚くほどバランスが取れている。甘草、黒い果実、野生のプラムのアロマとトンカ豆の組み合わせ。口当たりはシルキーで官能的。 ■2021年ヴィンテージ情報■ このヴィンテージは非典型的なヴィンテージで、多くの調整を必要とする気候変動に見舞われた。非常に穏やかな冬の後、春は4月7日から8日の夜に霜が降り、若い芽を一掃し、ブドウの木の生長サイクルを遅らせた。涼しい季節が続いた後、暑い日が続き、8月初めの小雨を含む降雨がブドウ畑を水ストレスから救った。最後に、夏の夜の冷え込みと春の霜が相まって、収量は区画によってばらつきがあったが、健全な状態を保った。しかし秋には、大嵐によって収穫が遅くなり、非常に試練的なヴィンテージの要求を満たすために、やり方を変え、決定的な選択を迫られた。 その結果、若いうちから楽しめるフレッシュなワインができ、2021年は90年代を彷彿とさせるヴィンテージとなり、熟成のポテンシャルも備えている。 ■テクニカル情報■ 手摘みで収穫し、畑で選果後、セラーで熟成。100%除梗し、切り詰めた木製のタンクで発酵。土着酵母によるアルコール発酵。手作業によるパンチングダウンとデレスタージュは、ブドウのマセラシオンの間（35日間）に行われる。収穫は10月1日から。 熟成：88%をデミ・ミュード（600L）、12%をアンフォラで14ヶ月熟成。ブドウの平均樹齢：70年 ブレンド：グルナッシュ55%、ムールヴェードル45%（産地：ピニャン、ラ・ギガス） LE CLOS DU CAILLOU CHATEAUNEUF DU PAPE LA RESERVE ル・クロ・デュ・カイユ シャトーヌフ・デュ・パプ ラ・レゼルヴ 生産地：フランス ローヌ 南ローヌ シャトーヌフ・デュ・パプ 原産地呼称：AOC. There's an attractive note of pine resin this year as well. Medium to full-bodied, it's not as rich as in the best vintages, but it's still a great wine, concentrated and silky, with a long, lingering finish. The Vacheron family at Le Clos du Caillou turn out a long list of stellar wines in almost every vintage. Their several Cotes du Rhone bottlings often rival or surpass lesser producers' Chateauneufs, and those wines (and the family's Chateauneufs) authentically reflect their various terroirs, making the domaine's cellars a learning experience every visit. It seems 2021 was a learning experience for cellarmaster Bruno Gaspard as well. "It was the most difficult vintage I've seen to choose the order of picking," he said. "But with time, '21 gains more fruit and tannin." For the parcels destined for the 2021 Chateauneuf Les Quartz, Gaspard said, "We knew we had rain October 3 and we knew we could not pick all the grapes before then, so we stripped the leaves [to allow better air circulation and prevent rot] and picked October 13." There's no 2021 Cotes du Rhone La Reserve in 2021, because that parcel of vines was hit hard by frost, so the vintage wasn't without issues beside the harvest-time rain spells. As at most properties, the 2022s possess an extra level of richness and ripeness. "From January to August 2022, we had no rain," said Gaspard. "But even vines on sandy soils didn't suffer." Then a major storm on August 14-the same one that devastated much of la Crau-helped push the grapes through their final ripening. "For our terroir, when we have rain in August, it's really good," he said. "The vines take what they need, and the rest [of the water] drains away." While the stars of the show here are the 2022s, the 2021s are striking for their purity and complexity. The 2020s are another strong vintage, so if consumers happen across them on store shelves, there's no reason to hesitate. The 2021 La Reserve was vinified from organically grown grapes - almost equally Grenache and Mourvedre. Attractive aromas of predominantly red fruits, crushed flowers, thyme and exotic spices waft from the glass. It seamlessly lingers across the palate, dazzling with polished tannins and excellent freshness.
