シャンパーニュの造り手一族に生まれたルーク・モルレ。カリフォルニアの自然とフランスのワイン造りをみごとに融合させた 「モルレ・ファミリー・ヴィンヤード」。モルレは、カリスマワインメーカー ピーター・マイケルに関わった躍進するワイン醸造家の一人として知られます。

2006年のファーストヴィンテージは、「DRCのリシュブールを想起させる」とロバート・パーカーに大絶賛されました。陽光を浴びた果実味と、繊細なエレガンスが同居する彼のワインは、世界を魅了し続けています。

「モルレ アン・ファミーユ ピノ・ノワール ソノマ・コースト」は、私たちの家族は何世代にもわたって、フランスでピノ・ノワールを栽培してきました。収穫のたびに、子供たちがカリフォルニア・ソノマコーストのピノ・ノワールの小樽を踏みしめながら、この伝統的な取り組みを祝うのが私たちの楽しみです。家族のお祝いやカジュアルな集まりには、この手作りのワインを「En Famille」するのがおすすめです。

強烈なラズベリー、ワイルドストロベリー、フォレストフロア、土の香り（グラファイト）、非常にリッチで複雑、革のような余韻のあるフィニッシュです。10年以上、優雅に熟成することでしょう。

12℃前後で抜栓し、1時間位置く。透明感のある濃いガーネット色、菫、薔薇、ハイビスカス、沈丁花、ブラックカラント、レッドカラント、桜桃、ドライラズベリー、イチゴ、ダークチェリー、桃、ブラックベリー、デーツ、赤身肉、レザー、鞣革、黒胡椒、香菜、丁子、甘草、杜松の実、オレガノ、タイム、ローズマリー、桂皮、陳皮、バニラビーンズ、コーヒー、シガー、トリュフ、腐葉土、森の下草、湿った土、黒い土、ミネラル
少し赤み、明るさと透明感を感じる濃いガーネット色。スワリングし口に含むと、赤い花と熟した果物が物凄い勢いで広がってくる。口当たりは果実味たっぷりで甘くフルーティー。ミディアム・ボディでスーッと伸びていく。実にエレガント。凝縮感、濃度、集中感はかなり高く、沈み込みがちなトーンを持っている。
酸・タンニンはこなれていて、柔らかさと優しさにホッと一息吐けそう。一般的なカリフォルニアより、エレガントに造り込まれているように思える。今から美味しく飲めるワインだ。2015.12.18

The 2012 Pinot Noir En Famille (550 cases produced) comes from Goldridge soils, is 100% barrel-fermented, and is aged in older, neutral demi-muids as well as new oak. Medium-bodied and elegant, with more of the red fruit/forest floor spectrum than its siblings, it reveals soil undertones, underbrush, red and blackcurrants, sweet cherries and pomegranate characteristics. Drink it over the next 7-8 years.

Run, don’t walk - take your checkbook or credit card out and splurge for the Luc Morlet Wine Express. Morlet, who comes from a family of winemakers in Champagne and consults at the Peter Michael Winery where his brother Nicolas is in charge of the winemaking, has his own operation on Route 29 north of St. Helena. His Napa cuvees were reviewed in Issue #215. His Sonoma offerings are remarkable wines that are about as good as wines made from Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah can be. Morlet is not only a fabulous winemaking talent, he knows how to bring the French savoir faire of complexity, elegance and precision to the ripe, concentrated, intense fruit of California.

(fermented entirely in puncheons): Medium red, a bit darker than the Coteaux Nobles. Less fruity and spicy on the nose today, with the strawberry and cherry aromas currently dominated by mocha, graphite and leather. Much tighter in the mouth as well, but showing a lovely balance between its savory earth and brown spice elements and its deep red fruits. Best today on the long finish, which reveals sweet tannins and a light touch. Try this with squab with foie gras en papillote, says Morlet.
