「ワインは限られた人の為の贅沢品ではなく、料理と共にすべての人が楽しむもの」がモットーだが品質は高く、2010年にはドイツ赤ワイン生産者No.1に贈られる「BESTE ROTWIENKOLLEKTION」に選出され、「Eichelmann」5つ星も獲得している。

フランツ・ケラーはバーデン地方・カイザーシュトゥール地区のフォークツブルク・オーバーベルゲン村に位置する家族経営のワイナリー。1893年にワイン貿易商として創業して以来、長きにわたり高品質なワインを輸入し世の中に紹介してきた。 現在は5代目のフレードリッヒ・ケラーが醸造責任者となっており、畑では除草剤、殺虫剤、化学肥料は使用しない。醸造では、白はフレッシュな果実を保つために除梗せずにプレスし、ステンレスタンクとオークの大樽を使い分けて熟成させる。

アイヒェルマン誌で最高の5つ星評価、WA誌ではバーデンで最も素晴らしいPNを造ると絶賛され、デカンター誌でもドイツのピノ・ノワールTOP20でその名が挙がっている。

「シュペートブルグンダー アイヒベルク グローセス・ゲヴェックス」は、オーバーロートヴァイル村を代表するGGで、ドイツで最も暖かい畑の一つ。色の濃い火山性土壌に植わるシュペートブルグンダーの半数が1994年植樹のアルマン・ルソーのクローンで、残り半分がドイツのクローン。樹齢は平均30年。

熟した赤系・黒系果実のピュアでスパイシーな力強いアロマ。口当たりは非常にエレガントであるが、パワフルで濃厚な果実味を持ち、きめ細かいタンニンと素晴らしい張りを兼ね揃えている。奥深さがあり余韻が長く複雑。バーデンを代表するシュペートブルグンダー。

アイヒベルクは暖かい畑で、色の濃い、火山性土壌の段々畑になっている。ワインはより男性的なキャラクターで、ハーブやタールのアロマ、ダークで凝縮感のあるフルーツ、スモーキーさやミネラルが際立つスタイルとなる。

From several terraces planted with a range of clones and massal selections, the dark ruby-colored 2021 Eichberg Oberrotweil Spatburgunder GG opens with a deep, pure, clear, fresh yet most of all intense and distinctive nose with floral cassis and cherry aromas. Silky and lush on the palate, this is a full-bodied, elegant and generous, persistently intense, saline and structured Eichberg with firm tannins, lingering salts and generous juiciness. This is a real grand cru with a spectacular finish, even in a difficult (rainy) vintage such as 2021. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in February 2024.

Friedrich Keller only brings his red wines onto the market two years after the harvest, after they have spent a year in barrels and are bottled either in the fall, January or in the spring of the second year after light filtration. Keller's wines are characterized by clear, elegant fruit, a fresh palate and silky texture. They are deeply calm wines that clearly express the different vineyard sites. The 2021s are outstanding, and the 2022s are surprisingly difficult to compete with, at least in their youth. I didn't taste the two vintages side by side, though, but a few months apart. Expressive and subtle in spite of the impressive concentration on the cool, medium-bodied palate. Lots of finesse in a very Burgundian manner. This is youthful and has the structure to age, though the tannins are by no means dominant. Crisp and slightly zesty at the long finish with stacks of wet stone minerality.
