    アルジャーノが所有する畑のうち、最も樹齢が高く特別な3.5haの単一区画より、エレガンス極まる「ヴィーニャ・デル・スオーロ」！ トスカーナ出身、世界の5大醸造家選出の偉大なエノロゴがコンサル 新たなアルジャーノのワイン造りを指揮するのは、2015年にコンサルタントに就任したアルベルト・アントニーニだ。デカンターでミシェル・ロランやクリストフ・ルーミエと並び世界の5大醸造家に選ばれた、トスカーナ出身の偉大なエノロゴである。アルジャーノの今後の更なる躍進の可能性に、ワイン評論家のアントニオ・ガローニは大きな期待を寄せている。 土壌、品種、区画ごとの醸造－そして注がれる惜しみない大規模な投資・・・ 彼らが本拠を構えるサンタンジェロ・イン・コッレは、暖かな気候と、砂を含む粘土や石灰の土壌により、ワインは大らかでボリューム感のある味わいが特徴だ。フランス品種を用いたソレンゴやノン・コフンディトゥールの熟成にはフレンチオークのバリックを用いる一方、ブルネッロはボッティと呼ばれる大樽で熟成される。52haのブドウ畑は土壌タイプや品種によって分類され、区画ごとに醸造が行われており、畑を重視し、その力を引き出すための大規模な投資が続けられている。 「ブルネッロ・ディ・モンタルチーノ ヴィーニャ・デル・スオーロ」は、構想から6年を経てようやくリリースされたワイナリー初となる単一畑のブルネッロ。所有する中で最も古い畑で、植樹は1965年。ワイルド・ベリー、カシス、ドライハーブのアロマに、スパイスやスモークの繊細なニュアンスが溶け込み、しなやかでありながらも複雑。骨格のあるタンニン、傑出した凝縮感も同時に感じられる。この区画ならではのエレガンス、鮮やかさが魅力的に表現されたアルジャーノ渾身の一本。 香りは非常に複雑で幅広い。古典的なサンジョヴェーゼのノートが感じられ、特にマラスカ・チェリーや花の香りが強いが、オレンジピール、セージ、バルサミコなどの香りもある。濃密で骨格があり、口に含むと香ばしく、シルキーで溶け込んだタンニンと香り高い酸味がある。非常に長いフィニッシュ。 ■テクニカル情報■ 産地：D.O.C.G. The 2020 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna del Suolo shows what is best described as a soft chewy center like the kind you might find in a home-baked cherry pie. It's not heavy, but the fruit comes through quite directly and with determined elegance. You also get toasted spice and a sweet hint of sauna cedar over medium-plus length. Production in this case is limited to a collectors' worthy 4,279 bottles. Following 10 years of massive investments in the vineyards and a total restoration of the historic castle, Argiano is now entering a new, perhaps quieter, phase of self-reflection and planning for the future. For example, CEO Bernardino Sani and his excellent team are contemplating a second single-vineyard release with the upcoming 2021 vintage. This could be an exciting addition. The estate is located in the southwest quadrant of the appellation on a long plateau at 240 to 280 meters above sea level. There are six vineyard parcels used in the making of Brunello di Montalcino on clay limestone soils. Bernardino Sani tells me that 2020 was a hot year, but the summer season benefited from good water reserves to help hydrate the vines throughout the hottest months of summer. He sees parallels between 2020 and 2015. This is surprisingly juicy and graceful in style, sweeping across the palate with silken textures yet lifted in feel as depths of red and blueberry fruits settle on the senses. The 2020 tapers off youthfully tense and structured, leaving a tart cranberry concentration and web of fine-grained tannins that flex upon the palate.
