Just a whiff of caramel. Rich and very concentrated, the palate creamy at the front and silky at the back, making this very easy to drink now. The finish is at once stony and filigree. Stuart Pigott Senior Editor vinous：94 ポイント 94 Drinking Window 2025 - 2050 From: 2022 Mosel-Saar-Ruwer: Old Vines and Steep Challenges (Oct 2023) The 2022 Riesling 1896 was harvested in the same parcel as Longuicher Maximin Herrenberg. The idea was to make a wine as it would have been made in the late 19th century. All the vines are own-rooted; the grapes were harvested without selection into ripeness grade, pressed in a 70-year-old basket press for 12 hours, then gravity-fed without sedimentation into a 60-year-old Fuder to ferment spontaneously. The nose is very subtle, with lemon emanating gently. The palate is dense but on light feet, with a concentrated creaminess. All the boldness of the estate is channeled into pure elegance.
