    メッソリオ、パレオ、2つのワインで「100点」を獲得した、イタリア屈指の銘醸生産者がカベルネ・フラン100%で造るスーパータスカン！ トスカーナ州ボルゲリで、唯一農家がはじめたワイナリー。初代オーナー故エウジェニオ・カンポルミ氏はこの地の可能性を見出し、惜しみない努力を注いできました。エウジェニオが亡くなった後、妻チンツィアと家族が彼の意思を引き継ぎ、2009年にはイタリア最優秀ワイナリーと評されるまでになります。トスカーナ最高峰のメルローといえばマッセート、レディガフィ、そしてメッソリオ。中でもその優美さは右岸のボルドーをも圧倒する別格の存在としてワイン・アドヴォケイト誌でも高い注目を集めています。 「パレオ・ロッソ」は、最も歴史があり、ワイナリーにとってフラグシップワインです。1989年から造られており、故エウジェニオ氏がカベルネ・フラン種の可能性を信じ、一大決心をして2000年の収獲後にカベルネ・ソーヴィニヨン種の苗木を全て切り落とし、カベルネ・フランを接木しました。それ以来、カベルネ・フラン100%のワインとなりました。 ボルゲリのテロワールとカベルネ・フランの個性を最大限に表現できるように常に気を付けてワイン造りをしています。バルサミックで瑞々しい地中海の特徴がでています。クリュでは生産量が最も多く、より多くの人にパレオを楽しんでもらいたいという想いが込められたワインです。濃密でシルキーな舌触り、口に広がる豊かな果実味が特徴です。チョコレート、濃密なカシス、エスプレッソと様々なアロマが感じられます。 パレオとは、「雑草」のことです。畑に良く生える雑草。1989年の初ヴィンテージの時に、春から夏にかけて畑の雑草がたくさん生えていて、これを処理するのが大変だったので、その思い出をワインの名前にしました。また、パレオのラベルに描かれている木は、レッチョという、ボルゲリ周辺によく生えている木を指します。 ■2021年ヴィンテージ情報■ 2021年は雨の多い冬で始まり、平均より高い気温が続いたため、剪定作業は遅れて始まった。春になると気温がわずかに上昇し、シャルドネとメルローの両品種で芽吹きが急速に進んだ。その結果、4月初旬に2晩連続で夜間の気温が氷点近くまで低下した際、これら2品種は霜害のリスクが高まった。幸い、明らかな被害は確認されなかった。冬の降雨で蓄えられた水分により、4月後半の気温上昇は急速な栄養成長とブドウの枝の着実な発達をもたらし、この傾向は5月いっぱい続いた。夏は典型的な好天で幕を開けましたが、春の霜の影響で開花・着果・色づきがやや遅れました。シーズン終盤は非常に乾燥した期間が続き、収穫期全体を通じて乾燥状態が持続しました。収穫は例年通り8月第3週に始まり、9月末まで続きました。カベルネ・フランとカベルネ・ソーヴィニヨンの収穫最終段階では降雨がありました。 ■テクニカル情報■ 醗酵：コンクリートタンク 熟成：オーク樽(新樽)&アンフォラ16カ月 栽培面積：5.5ha 平均収量：25-40hl/ha 土壌：肥沃な粘土質 品質分類・原産地呼称：トスカーナI.G.T. ■戦うワイン商 川頭義之氏のコメント■ カベルネ・フランの可能性を早くから見出した、イタリア（特にボルゲリ）のワイン造りに多大な影響を及ぼしたワイン。マッキオーレの成功を見て、カベルネ・フランを増やしたワイナリーの多い事は事実です。 AZIENDA AGRICOLA LE MACCHIOLE PALEO ROSSO アジィエンダ・アグリコーラ・レ・マッキオーレ パレオ・ロッソ 生産地：イタリア トスカーナ 原産地呼称：IGT. Crushed red-toned fruit, blood orange, espresso, mocha, licorice and exotic spice infuse the palate with a notable textural intensity that builds over time. Paleo Rosso typically needs a few years in bottle to blossom. I expect that will be the case here as well. It’s an impressive wine from Le Macchiole. I am referring to the chapter that starts after the international success of the so-called "aia" wines (Sassicaia and Ornellaia). In this new world, Coastal Tuscany faces new important challenges linked to climate change and competition from other celebrated Tuscan wine appellations. Debuted in 1989, what sets it apart is the choice of grape: Cabernet Franc. Paleo was a lone ranger back then, but today the percentage of new Cabernet Franc vineyards in the region is taking off at breakneck speed. But Le Macchiole was the first to work with it at this quality level. The 2021 Paleo is especially tight, intense and direct. These are characteristics of the vintage and of the house style. I tasted this vintage from barrel two years ago, and my remark was that the wine focuses on red and purple fruits as well as the black ones. This remains true now that the wine is in bottle. Those fruit tones cede to a floral interlude of heritage rose that leads to mulled spice and Turkish coffee. The 2021 vintage is slightly curbed or streamlined in terms of mouthfeel, holding back just a bit for extra tension and extremely elegant results. I tasted the 2021 Paleo, Scrio and Messorio from barrel in 2022. I published my initial reviews back then, but I did not score the wines. It is a pleasure to return to these bottles today with an official numerical score and wine note. This is very polished and sophisticated with currant, spice, fresh-herb and cedar character that goes on for minutes on the finish. The tannins are so refined yet muscular, with form and tension. Give this time to soften and come around, but a very serious red by all accounts. Small percentage of amphora aging. Cabernet franc. Best after 2028.
