超古典派の小規模生産者フリーニの偉大な作品、ブルネッロ!

フリーニ家はヴェネチアの旧家で、ハプスブルグ家に仕え、トスカーナ州マレンマ地方に広大な領地を与えられました。スカンサーノでワイン造りの経験を積んだジョヴァンニ・マリア・フリーニが、1905年にモンタルチーノに移り住み、ワイナリーを設立。現在、マリア・フローラ・フリーニとワインメーカーのロベルト・グエッリーニが経営しています。70年代初頭からブルネッロ・ディ・モンタルチーノと、ロッソ・ディ・モンタルチーノの醸造を開始しました。

ブルネッロの街に近い歴史的な生産地域でブドウ栽培を行い、テロワールを重視するワイン造りを行っています。2017年にはWine&Spirits誌でTOP100ワイナリーに選ばれ、世界的にも評価されているワイナリーです。

「ブルネッロ・ディ・モンタルチーノ」は、スミレや黒いベリー系果実の香りと、甘いスパイスのニュアンス。黒スグリ、ラズベリーなどの果実の味わい、滑らかなタンニンもあり、複雑さと凝縮感のあるしっかりとした味わい。ミネラルのような風味と熟成由来のスモーキーさ。洗練されていて且つ厳格さがあり、フィネスを感じるブルネッロ。

土壌：石灰粘土質、粘板岩、ガレストロ
樹齢：約20～30年
植密度：2,700～5,500本/ha
定温(27-30度)で発酵マセラシオン。ステンレスタンクで2-3カ月熟成後、スラヴォニア産の大樽と、アリエ産のトノー樽で24-36カ月熟成。

Plenty of complexity to this, with cherry, plum, blackberry and hints of cedar and stone. Full-bodied with layered, velvety tannins and a flavorful finish. Punctuated and defined for the 2017 vintage. Drinkable now, but better after 2023.

The Fuligni 2017 Brunello di Montalcino is a beautiful wine, and it shines a much-deserved spotlight on one of the most consistent estates in Montalcino. It is bright and luminous with a dark ruby shine. The bouquet reveals deeply layered tones of red cherry, wild berry, rose, earth and candied violets. Give the wine an extra twirl or two, and you get some rosemary and lavender. Soft dusty mineral and limestone also appear. I'd definitely put this bottle on a short list of the most recommended bottles from the 2017 vintage.

Fuligni’s beautiful interpretation of a Brunello is very muscular, but never excessive. Nose of black currant and rhubarb, with touches of pepper leaf in the finish. Salty tannins, mouth of density and crunchiness, with long persistence. Finish with spicy return and small fruits.
