デュガ・ピィが所有するマゾワイエールの区画でも大きな石ころがごろごろと転がる、シャルムとは異なる土壌。シャルムよりも明らかに堅牢なボディをもち、タンニンはキメ細かなものの豊富に存在。ミネラル感がまたストラクチャーの強さを感じさせる。明らかに長期熟成タイプ。

The 2018 Mazoyeres-Chambertin Grand Cru is more brooding and reserved than the exuberant Charmes, wafting from the glass with aromas of cassis, blackberries, rich soil tones, juniper and rose petals. On the palate, it's full-bodied, deep and powerful, with fine structuring tannins, terrific depth at the core and impressively succulent enlivening acidity in this warm vintage. This was vinified with 80% whole cluster and matured in 75% new oak.

The 2018 Mazoyeres-Chambertin Grand Cru comes from two parcels of 45- and 80-year-old vines on much stonier soils than the Charmes-Chambertin. This has a knockout nose of brambly black fruit, cassis and crushed stone aromas that gain intensity with every swirl of the glass. The palate is silky-smooth on the entry and very precise and focused, with great tension toward the shimmering vintage. This is definitely one of the best Mazoyeres-Chambertins I have tasted in over ten years of coming to this domaine.
