The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, perhaps more elegant than the Granite Syrah, supremely well focused with a peppery finish that is complex and engaging. Even more black pepper on the aftertaste, this has outstanding persistence. Medium to full-bodied, the mouthfeel displays a delightful and food-friendly mineral tension before focused tannins grip the gumline. The wine persists on the palate, revealing breadth and depth with focus and harmony before lingering with a tannic edge. The 2021 Schist Syrah is dusty and floral with elegant and powerful red and black peppercorn tones that seduce the nose. Medium-bodied, the palate reveals a fresh, herbal and savory essence that's beautifully balanced with flavors of dark cherry skin while offering a firm tannic edge. Delivering incredible mineral tension, this devastatingly gorgeous Syrah will have no trouble aging for over two decades. Bravo! Published: Dec 30, 2023 VINOUS：95 ポイント 95pts Drinking Window 2024 - 2042 From: The A to Z of South Africa (Nov 2023) The 2021 Syrah Schist is completely different from the Granite counterpart, so stony, like just inhaling warm granite at first and gradually, the black fruit grows in stature. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins. Quite a "bold" Syrah, very focused with an uncompromising steely finish. This just exudes terroir.- By Neal Martin on August 2023
