気品あふれるエレガントな口当たりで、若い内からも充分に楽しめますが、長い熟成によって大輪に開花しうる力強さと、しっかりしたコクも内に秘めています。

バローロ、バルバレスコの造り手としても知られる、ピエモンテを代表する名醸造所のひとつチェレット。チェレットの起源は、リッカルド・チェレットが1930年代後半にピエモンテ州アルバに創設したワイナリーに遡ります。彼の息子であり、70歳を超えた現在も会社の経営に携わるブルーノ・チェレットとマルチェロ・チェレットの兄弟が1960年代にワイナリーを引継ぎました。

「最上の畑で最上の酒をつくる」というポリシーを実現するために、バローロやバルバレスコの畑を次々と購入し、醸造所も建設してきました。現在では、3世代目が祖父の時代から続くワイナリーを継承し、イタリア最高の赤ワインであるバローロ、それと並び賞されるバルバレスコの最高の造り手のひとつとして、確固たる地位を確立しています。

「バルバレスコ ベルナドット」は、トレイゾ村ベルナドット畑で作られるブドウを使用します。300Lのフレンチオーク中樽で最低24ヵ月間熟成。(一部は新樽、他は2年使用樽を使用)平均樹齢は約10年、自社畑で5ha所有。ファーストリリースは1997年。ラズベリーなどの果実味や花束、ハーブなどの豊かなアロマ。口当たりはソフトですが、シルキーで滑らかなタンニンが骨格をもたらしています。すぐに飲んでも熟成させても楽しむことができます。

The 2016 Barbaresco Bernadot takes the intensity level up a notch when compared to the base Barbaresco that I tasted immediately before this wine. The Bernadot is silky and fine with a pretty embroidery of floral aromas, cola, grilled herb and balsam herb. It will enjoy a long cellar life, at least a decade, but this wine is also perfect for near and medium-term drinking. Some 10,600 bottles were made.

The 2016 Barbaresco Bernardot is a super-classic wine. Finely cut, the Bernardot is all about energy and tension. Dark red cherry, cedar, tobacco, spice and leather gradually develop in the glass, but the 2016 is tightly wound and nowhere near ready to show all of its cards. It may very well be the most powerful, austere Bernardot I have tasted here. Extremely perfumed and attractive with blueberry and cherry aromas and hints of flowers, following through to a full body with firm and silky tannins and a long, flavorful finish. Give it another two or three years to come together. Try after 2021.
