新たに特級畑や1級畑を増やし成長を続けるモレ・サン・ドニの雄「デュジャック」

創設者のジャック・セイスはベルギー出身で、ドメーヌ創設の前に2ヴィンテージをブルゴーニュで過ごし、ジェラール・ポテルの元、ドメーヌ・プス・ドールでワイン造りを学んだ。その間に、DRCのオベール・ド・ヴィレーヌやアルマン・ルソーのシャルル・ルソーらと親交を深めている。 そして1968年に4.5haのドメーヌ・グライエを買い取り、自らの名前、ジャックをもじってドメーヌ・デュジャックと名付けたのだ。現在はジャックの息子、ジェレミーとアレックがそれぞれ醸造と販売を担当し、ドメーヌを実質的に引き継いでいる。ジャックの妻もジェレミーの妻もアメリカ人で、ジェレミー夫人ダイアナは醸造学を修めたエノローグである。

「ピュリニー・モンラッシェ 1er レ・フォラティエール」は、ピュリニー最大の一級畑。モンラッシェやシュヴァリエ・モンラッシェとほぼ同じ標高に位置しており、豊富な日照由来の濃厚さと、テロワール由来のミネラル感を兼備したワインが生み出されます。

Aromas of pear, crushed mint, white flowers, hazelnuts and bread dough introduce Dujac's 2022 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatieres, a medium to full-bodied, satiny and rich white that's thick and layered, with good depth at the core and an anise-inflected finish.

Harvest at Domaine Dujac began on August 29. At the time, Jeremy Seysses thought of the vintage as potentially reminiscent of 2018-tasting the wines this winter, he feels that they're more delicate, while also admitting that he was even more cautious about extraction in 2022. Whatever the apposite analogy, the result is clear: a superb portfolio of beautifully balanced wines that unite charm and density. Readers, of course, will be familiar with the outlines of the Dujac approach to producing red Burgundy: organic farming, fermentation with a predominance of whole clusters and elevage in barrels largely sourced from Tonnellerie Remond. None of that seems to have changed in 2022, despite a new winery where stainless steel vats have replaced concrete. The wines retain, nay exalt in, their distinctive identity. The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatieres 1er Cru has quite a generous bouquet with mainly yellow fruit and a touch of lemon verbena, focused with hints of lime developing in the glass. The palate is well-balanced, with a twist of sour lemon on the entry. There’s fine weight, cohesive, maybe requiring a little more nerve towards the finish. However, there is certainly brightness here, and I feel it will gain more energy by the time of bottling. On par with the previous vintage. - By Neal Martin on November 2023
