新たに特級畑や1級畑を増やし成長を続けるモレ・サン・ドニの雄「デュジャック」

創設者のジャック・セイスはベルギー出身で、ドメーヌ創設の前に2ヴィンテージをブルゴーニュで過ごし、ジェラール・ポテルの元、ドメーヌ・プス・ドールでワイン造りを学んだ。その間に、DRCのオベール・ド・ヴィレーヌやアルマン・ルソーのシャルル・ルソーらと親交を深めている。 そして1968年に4.5haのドメーヌ・グライエを買い取り、自らの名前、ジャックをもじってドメーヌ・デュジャックと名付けたのだ。現在はジャックの息子、ジェレミーとアレックがそれぞれ醸造と販売を担当し、ドメーヌを実質的に引き継いでいる。ジャックの妻もジェレミーの妻もアメリカ人で、ジェレミー夫人ダイアナは醸造学を修めたエノローグである。

「ピュリニー・モンラッシェ 1er レ・コンベット」は、ピュリニー・モンラッシェ村の中でも最もムルソー寄りに位置し、隣はムルソーの偉大な一級畑シャルムに隣接した素晴らしいテロワールを持ちます。ムルソー村の豊満さとピュリニー村のエレガンスを融合させたようなスタイルの白ワインです。

The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Les Combettes 1er Cru is more nuanced on the nose than the Les Folatieres, with more sharpness and a touch more nervosite coming through with aeration, which is often the case when the two are compared side-by-side. The palate is well-balanced with a vivid entry, spicier than the Les Folatieres with touches of lemongrass towards the intense finish. The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes is a touch more reductive out of the gates, unwinding to reveal notes of toasted hazelnuts, pear, apple, white flowers and buttery pastry. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and chiseled, it's more concentrated and more incisive that the Folatieres and concludes with a saline finish.

Harvest at Domaine Dujac began on August 29. At the time, Jeremy Seysses thought of the vintage as potentially reminiscent of 2018-tasting the wines this winter, he feels that they're more delicate, while also admitting that he was even more cautious about extraction in 2022. Whatever the apposite analogy, the result is clear: a superb portfolio of beautifully balanced wines that unite charm and density. Readers, of course, will be familiar with the outlines of the Dujac approach to producing red Burgundy: organic farming, fermentation with a predominance of whole clusters and elevage in barrels largely sourced from Tonnellerie Remond. None of that seems to have changed in 2022, despite a new winery where stainless steel vats have replaced concrete. The wines retain, nay exalt in, their distinctive identity. Published: Jan 19, 2024
