スクリーミング・イーグルよりも生産数が少ない稀少アイテム！ 比較的樹齢の若い樹やスクリーミング・イーグルに使用されなかったワインで醸造される「ザ・フライト」 スクリーミング・イーグルは、世界中のワインマニアの心を揺さぶるカリフォルニアのカルトワインを代表する生産者です。1986年にジーン・フィリップス女史は、ナパ・ヴァレーのオークヴィルに土地を買い始め、谷を見渡せる丘の斜面にごく小さなワイナリーを建設。ダラ・ヴァレ・マヤを生み出し、「ワイン界のファースト・レディ」と称される、ハイジ・バレット女史を醸造責任者に招き、1992年に僅か24haの小さな畑からファーストヴィンテージとなるスクリーミング・イーグルをリリースしました。 そのワインは、初ヴィンテージにしてワイン評論家ロバート・パーカー氏が99点を付け、一躍有名となります。その後も、スクリーミング・イーグル1993年が97点、1994年が94点、1995年が99点、1996年が98点、そして1997年が100点満点を獲得し、ナパ・ヴァレーで最も入手困難なワインとして世界中のワイン・コレクターの垂涎の的となっています。 現在はJonata やThe Hilt のオーナーとして知られるStan Kroenke(スタン・クロンキー)がオーナーです。ミシェル・ローランをコンサルタントに迎え、2012年ヴィンテージからは、親日家で花火職人の資格を持つ若き天才ワインメーカー、Nick Gislason(ニック・ジスラソン)が醸造を担当しています。 「ザ・フライト」は、スクリーミング・イーグルのセカンドワインです。 比較的樹齢の若い樹やスクリーミング・イーグルに使用されなかったワインで醸造。極めて入手困難なワイン。ワイナリーとしては、スクリーミング・イーグルの熟成を待つ間に楽しむメルロー主体の別ワインとして取り扱われているようです。 SCREAMING EAGLE THE FLIGHT OAKVILLE NAPA VALLEY スクリーミング・イーグル ザ・フライト オークヴィル ナパ・ヴァレー 生産地：アメリカ カリフォルニア ナパ 原産地呼称：AVA. Full-bodied yet linear and very long. Extremely refined and fresh. Needs a few years to come completely together, but already so refined. VINOUS：98 ポイント 98pts Drinking Window 2024 - 2036 From: Napa Valley’s Extraordinary 2016 Cabernets (Dec 2018) The 2016 The Flight is gorgeous. Dark, brooding and closed in on itself, the 2016 is going to need a number of years to be at its very best, but it is incredibly beguiling today. Plum, black cherry, lavender, blood orange menthol, and a host of more mineral-driven notes punctuate this super-expressive wine. This is a decidedly tannic and powerful edition of The Flight. I can't wait to see how it ages. Bottled just six weeks before this tasting, the 2016 appears to have a very bright future. Time in the glass brings out some of the softer edges that will almost surely emerge with cellaring. The Flight is built on a core of older Merlot vines from the southeast corner of the estate. Full-bodied, rich, spicy and jam-packed with energy, it has beautifully plush tannins texturing the multilayered blue and black fruits, delivering a very long, perfumed finish. Full-bodied, deep and layered, it's rich and concentrated, with a deep core of fruit, bright acids and fine, powdery tannins. When it might actually be ready to drink is another matter! Soaring aromatics are so alluring. On the palate, though, the 2019 is incredibly reticent. Readers should be in no rush. 1989年に、ジャン・リュック・テュヌヴァンがサンテミリオンにわずか0.6haの畑を買ったことから始まったシンデレラストーリー。歴史の浅いシャトーがこれほどの高い評価を短時間で勝ち取った例は無く、まさにシンデレラスワインの名に相応しい。メルローとフランを化学肥料を使わずに育て、新樽100%で仕込み、出来上がるワインはスパイシーでプルーンを思わす風味と濃密で決め細かな舌ざわり濃い色合い。豊かなタンニン、凝縮しつつ輪郭がはっきりしていて長期熟成向きスタイル。
