Wafting from the glass with arresting aromas of cassis, blackberries and cherries mingled with violets, cigar box and warm spices, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and seamless, its velvety attack segueing into a layered, concentrated mid-palate framed by exquisitely powdery tannins and ripe acids, and concluding with a long, perfumed finish. This rivals the 2010 and 2016 as the greatest Lafite of the decade, and of those three vintages, it's clearly the most sensual and demonstrative out of the gates. The blend contains fully 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and attained a modest 13.4% alcohol. Today, Chateau Lafite Rothschild amounts to some 110 hectares planted to some 900,000 vines (including 4.5 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon in Saint-Estephe). If that figure strikes readers as smaller than it used to be, that's because Lafite has ripped up some less optimally situated plots that never tended to produce wine fit for inclusion in the grand vin. As of 2021, what's more, organic conversion is underway (15 hectares are already farmed biodynamically), and hedges and flowering borders, planted with native species, now begin to break up the monoculture of the vine. Cover crops, too, have been added to the viticultural team's agronomic arsenal and are delivering good results in parcels with more humid or clay-rich soils. In the winery, Lafite is meticulously traditional: the grapes are sorted twice, once optically, and see a classical maceration in wooden and cement tanks with pump-overs and some use of the gentle "air pulse" system that disrupts the cap and oxygenates the ferment without the need for a full pump-over. Malolactic fermentation, as ever, is in tank, and the wine matures in barrels that are mostly produced in-house, with a light toast and favoring the forests of Allier and Nevers. Each vintage is racked three times, traditionally, with one egg white fining (which requires up to 8,000 eggs). As is the case almost everywhere in the M?doc, the tendency is for less and less Merlot in the assemblage. Eric Kohler describes 2019 as the ideal growing season, which saw a hydric deficit at just the right moment to precipitate ripening; and the result is a wine of irreproachable classicism and elegance. Whether the 2010, 2016 or 2019 Lafite ultimately emerges as the best of the decade is a question that well-heeled wine lovers will have immense pleasure debating over the decades to come, but it is clear that 2019 is the most sensual and aromatically expressive at an early age. There is tremendous density and power that belies the 12.8% alcohol, but then again, that can be the magic of Bordeaux. Broad-shouldered and muscular, its rich, powdery tannins are already seamlessly integrated; and though it's labeled at 15% alcohol, far higher than the great vintages of yesteryear, it avoids any sense of over-ripeness. Jean-Philippe Delmas is delighted with his 2019s, and justly so, as this rich, dramatic and unusually powerful vintage is a great success for Ch?teau Haut-Brion (and its neighbor, La Mission Haut-Brion). In the vineyards, a touch more Cabernet Sauvignon is being planted these days, but the evolution is subtle, as the 2019 blend remains very much in line with tradition at this address, at 49% Merlot and 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, with the balance Cabernet Franc. That predominance of Merlot, combined with Haut-Brion's warm mesoclimate, have delivered an above-average alcohol level, labelled at 15%. On the white side of the ledger, we can expect a touch more Sauvignon Blanc in the future, as Delmas notes that S?millon tends to lose its acidity rapidly in warm vintages. In both colors, the vineyard team are working to mitigate the effects of climate change and minimize the quantities of copper employed in treatments throughout the year. In the cuvier and chai, winemaking remains very classical, with fermentation in Haut-Brion's proprietary two-tier stainless steel tanks, designed to maximize the quantity of high-quality free-run juice; malolactic fermentation in tank; and maturation in new oak barrels, some 80% of which are produced in house by S?guin Moreau (complemented by purchased barrels from Demptos and Taransaud). White grapes are whole-cluster pressed with great attention to pH, the musts protected with dry ice, and bottled with some 25 parts per million free sulfites, without much in the way of dissolved carbon dioxide. It doesn't have the overt power of Mouton, nor the sexiness of Chateau Margaux, yet it builds slowly and incrementally, with flawless balance, full-bodied richness, ultra-fine tannins, and a magical finish. My money is on this being one of the all-time greats from this address, in the same league as the 2009, 2010, 2015, 2016, and 2018. A dark, virile wine, the 2019 impresses with its vertical energy and statuesque elegance. It's a Haut-Brion that will only reveal itself over many years. Today, the density and resonance are super-impressive and also hugely promising. Classic savory and mineral notes start to emerge over time. I can't wait to see how this ages. Antonio Galloni. A strong case in its favor could certainly be made. Soaring from the glass with aromas of blackberries, raspberries, rose petals, violets, pencil shavings and vine smoke, it's full-bodied, layered and sensual, with a strikingly vibrant core of fruit that's framed by ripe, powdery tannins and bright acids, concluding with a penetrating, mouthwateringly saline finish of almost interminable duration. Dark fruit, too. Full-bodied, yet agile and fine, with a linear flow of tannins that run through the center of palate. The finesse of the tannins is exceptional, like raw silk and changing all the time. Cool and energetic, yet reserved. Zen-like. vinous：99 ポイント(Antonio Galloni) 99 pts Margaux 2019 Chateau Margaux Margaux, Medoc, Bordeaux Red wine from France Drinking window: 2029 - 2069 The 2019 Chateau Margaux possesses off the charts richness to go along with plush contours and mind-blowing balance. All the elements are so wonderfully woven together. It's as if all the Chateau Margaux signatures are dialed up to eleven, but without losing any of the classic Margaux character. The purity of the red-toned fruit is just breathtaking. The Merlot was picked early, but then rain during harvest delayed the ripening of the Cabernets, which turned out to be a huge advantage. It unfurls to reveal exquisitely defined black fruit infused with graphite, Japanese nori and just a hint of potpourri and crushed stone. This is supremely well focused, refined and correct, so much so that you would think it comes from a cooler growing season. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant, filigreed tannins that envelop the senses. Flavors of blackberry and bilberry, tinged with sea salt and black pepper, merge into a slightly more sensual finish that is still quintessentially Margaux. I used the word "effortless" in my note from barrel, and that rings true in bottle, though maybe there is now even more persistence. Quite stunning. Neal Martin. Incredible notes of blackcurrants, blueberries, sandalwood, cedar, and loads of floral tones all dominate the bouquet, and this beauty hits the palate with full-bodied richness, flawless integration in its tannins, acidity, and fruit, building structure, and an almost 'iron fist in a velvet glove' like mouthfeel. Reminding me of the 2016, yet with even more density, it's a quintessential Chateau Margaux that will benefit from a decade of cellaring and keep for 50 years or more.(6/2020)

      セント・ヘレナ市街地の少し北西、スプリング・マウンテンの裾野に位置する1.2ha。 1881年にナパで初めての女性オーナー「ジョゼフィーヌ・ティクソン女史」により植樹され、 ティクソン・セラーズとしてワインが造られた歴史的な畑。 禁酒法時代には葡萄は抜かれ、その後幾つかの区画に分けられ、何人かの違うオーナーが所有しましたが、 1997年にアン・コルギンが1.2haの区画を獲得しジョゼフィーヌに敬意を表して「ティクソン・ヒル」と命名。 2000年が初ヴィンテージ。その後改植を行い、2007年に丘上部の0.4haを、 2014年に一番南側の 0.8haを取得(現在 2.4ha)。何といってもこの畑の特徴は土壌にあり、 ナパ・ヴァレーでは珍しいエイケン火山性土壌に、赤褐色の石や 黒曜石を含む風化した火山岩や 堆積土壌の複合でとびぬけて薫り高いアロマを授けることができます。 朝日を享受する東向きの斜面にあり、極めて優美なコルギンが目指すワインの特徴を表現。 味わいは凝縮した力強さとエレガンスを兼ね備える仕上がりになります。 極めて優美な様々なアロマが幾重にも重なります。 クレーム・ド・カシス、燻したベーコン、土や鉱物のニュアンス、 ブラックベリーや 切りたての生花のアロマが鼻腔や舌を刺激します。まろやかな余韻が長く続き、華やかなアロマと味わいが 何度も繰り返して押し寄せる「宝石箱の様なワイン」とアン・コルギンは表現します。 2014年に取得した区画を含む0.9haの「Josepine’s Hill ジョセフィーヌ・ヒル」と呼ばれる 北向きのスプリング・マウンテンに繋がる斜面の区画は涼しさと厳しい斜面に植わるストレスから 長いハングタイムが取れます。この区画が近年ブレンドに加わったことにより深い味わいのニュアンスを 更に加味しています。ティクソン・ヒルの初パーカー100点は2002年、 その後2012年/2013年/2015年/2016年、2018年で100点を獲得。 優美さと薫り高さを体現するワインでありながら（フィネスとエレガンスのワインでありながら）、 パーカー100点を連発する類い稀なワインです。 ヴィンテージ情報 2018年は一年を通して大変穏やかだったという印象があります。 冬は乾燥しており、3月までまとまった雨はありませんでした。4月以降に雨は止み順調な開花をうながし、 夏の熱波はほとんどなく38度を超える日は1日しかありませんでした。 この年のコルギンの栽培管理における注意点はカバークロップの管理をしっかりする位でした。 良く成長するカバークロップは土壌が健康な証明です。収穫は全て寒い夜に行い、9月の最終週に開始、 その後雨が降ったので一時中断し、十分な乾燥を求めて適葉をこの時点で行い、 葡萄の完熟を待って10月の第2週に再開し、素晴らしい葡萄が収穫されました。 葡萄の房は小さめで綺麗に整い健康でダークブルーのふくよかな実が見事な見栄えです。 このヴィンテージはアロマティックな様々な細かい要素を持っており、味わいはクラシックでピュアな果実味、 複雑で多様性と深みがあります。グラスの中で時間が経つにつれ明確な個性を発揮します。 開いてくると明確でしっかりとしたタンニンが、非常にふくよかでビロードのような口当たりへと 変化していきます。 ワインメーカー・アリソン・トージア女史のコメント 100%Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 年のティクソン・ヒルは、まず深い艶やかな色合い、 黒・赤系ベリーと鮮烈な花の香りに圧倒されます。味わいにはカシス、ブラックチェリー、ハイビスカス、 ブラッ ドオレンジの鮮やかな風味が感じられ、絹のように滑らかなタンニンは、口中を滑るように広がります。 ふくよかでボリューム感がある味わいと相反するような軽やかな浮遊感の共存が特徴です。 ワインアドヴォケイト誌：100点

Medium-bodied with jaw-dropping elegance, the palate is finely textured and yet built like a brick house with a super taut backbone and exquisitely knit acidity. The intense black and red fruit flavors are accented by layers of mineral and floral notions, finishing with incredible length and depth. Undeniably stunning. “I loved it!” winemaker Nick Gislason told me when I asked him for his thoughts on the 2018 vintage. “Everything is just really perfumey with a lot of verve and a lot of freshness.
